Is this Atlantis?

The Sun's newspaper front page story (20/02/2009) is taken from a Google Ocean picture of the sea bed off the Canary Islands. It might show the spot of the fabled sunken city of Atlantis, it claims.

The answer is 'no'. On authority of Google Inc, the story has been rescinded, and explained as the after effects of a recent sonar sweep of that area. According to Google, what you are seeing is the search pattern of navy ships as they chart the seabed in that area while the pictures are being made.

Must be my layman self that has a hard time understanding how sonar (=sound waves) can create an effect like that on an optic (=light waves) medium.

Thoughts anyone? Any engineers in the house?

People in certain coast parts of France (maybe Spain) consider themselves descendants of people of Atlantis, however they were about twice the height of people today. Rinichan is right, Atlantis wasn't just a single city, it was an entire continent of it's own, similar to the legends of Lemuria/Mu.

I find it fascinating that alot of things are being unearthed at the moment, if what they found is part of Atlantis, then that will coincide with the reports of UFO's on the rise, the fact that we 'may' be fast-approaching another pole shift, and also that we are nearing alignment with the center of our galaxy in 3 years time.

Wake up people, it's happening, and it's far from fantasy or dreams, this is real-life; from here on in, we're going to experience a hell-of-a-ride on the way to 2012...

...so bring it on I say!

:) Kosi you're right! The Sun is worldly known for the extreme reliability of its sources, thoroughly researched subjects and razor sharp analysis.

Dear iDom,

Of course "The Sun" is the least reliable newspaper on the planet, but the image was there in Google Earth (that's my bit of research before posting ;) ) and I thought it was a cool article! No?
