NING Closing All Free Sites around May 4, 2010

Even though I havent been much of an 'active' user, I have been visiting SOE about every day since late 2008. I have found lots of valuable information on many subjects, a lot of good readings and videos about thing we dont find in mainstream media. I am very sad to find out today that NING is changing its policies because lots of sites I visit on daily basis are with NING..

NING sites I've been visiting lately
https://saviorsofearth.ning.com/
http://www.galacticroundtable.com
http://sovereignwarriors.ning.com
http://homeownersagainstbankfraud.ning.com
http://thestarseedcouncil.ning.com
http://belvaspata-angels-toltec.ning.com
http://ashtargalacticcommanders.ning.com

However it looks like http://www.socialgo.com could be a good replacement for NING..

Socialgo.com? Well, if it is the same free principle and everything on this site can be transferred somehow to a new similar platform I personally only see that free solution to be the best bet in the long run!! Good weekend to all :-)

The following was found on the NING blog site.

As part of this change, we’ll be phasing out our free service. On May 4, 2010, we will share with you all of the details of our new offering, including features and price points, through a series of blog posts, emails, and conference calls. We recognize that there are many active Ning Networks for teachers, small non-profits, and individuals and its our goal to have a set of product and pricing options that will make sense for all of them. For Ning Creators using our free service who choose to move to another service, we will offer a migration path and time to make that change. We will still continue to allow free trials and test networks on the Ning Platform.

We look forward to talking to you further on May 4th.

It speaks of a phase out of the free service along with a program of services (paid) which can be chosen from. When these "paid services" are communicated we, as a community, can then decide to take up one of these new services or not and discuss any alternatives and come to a decision.

When I receive such communication from NING I will let you know, until then I will follow developments on their blog.

Yes I agree with PA, when everybody puts in a small fee every month, SoE can continue.

I hope this one will survive. I am pretty active here and would be very sad if this goes.
