The hallucinogenic fly agaric mushroom is one of the
favorite foods of
the arctic circle reindeer (domesticated
caribou) of Scandinavia.

Ingesting fly agaric mushrooms can produce a sensation of
flying.

It is thought that the 19th century myth of Santa Claus is
rooted in old
myths of the indigenous Saami peoples, who
live in the Arctic circle and to whom for many, herding the
reindeer is central to their traditional way of
life.
