Reminds me more of an insignia mark. Placed there as greeting, as a mark or protection, a mark of possession, or someone with a poor sense of humor trying to emulate the KDF badge?

Dispassionately speaking, I see three different devices superimposed on one another: the sphere, the triangles and the deltoid. The amalgam of which is currently on display, which if indeed an insignia, would signify a badge on the level of a fleet composed of different groups, factions, nations or races.

It must be noted that the largest device, the deltoid, is the theoretical shape which can be created in a practical application of Euler's Identity, the binary code of which appeared in a Wiltshire cropcircle earlier this year.
