ok... so i have a different problem..and i do see it as a problem.. And .. this is going to sound so very very silly..BUT i recently discovered that.... *gulp*
wal-mart is my security blanket.

If i am having a bad day... it makes me feel better
if i am feeling bad about my self for what ever reason....it makes me feel better

for example.. I recently went to hawaii... and one of the days i was there i decided that i would leave the touristy section that i was in waikiki.. and take the bus to walmart.

i usually feel a little home sick and un easy while travelling..although i love travelling..so thats kind of a contradiction... the absoult second i even saw the Big blue walmart sign i started to feel more at ease.. then when i got in i felt totally at home..at first i just chalked it up to the famular setting...( practically all walmarts look the same from the inside ive found..)..... and i spent way more time in there that i had to.. infact i was procrastinating leaving..just wandering around ..lol..i feel crazy voicing that so please be kind.but
anyways..now i am thinking twice about why i feel this way..lmao.. what do you guys think....

SIMMY, it has become such a habit for me that my family thinks i am crazy the way i view shopping. I dont care. If everyone did this, think of the difference it would make? Somewhere around the globe are folks living in the most horrible conditions dismantling our electronics or forced to work 12 hours a day in a crammped, militaristic boxes to make us the latest greatest toys. It freaks me out. So yes, it becomes quite a habit...btw, stand by for some ridicule if people know you to be otherwise ;-)

That's it! Try to get out of the trance that focus you into buy, buy, buy!!!

Nonya, it is a very good tool you're giving me! To think about the story behind each product (and I bet it's something that becomes automatic once you've done a few times) it is really the best way to make a conscious decision. I will put it in practice next time I'm shopping, definitely!

SIIMY, I have a good remedy for stopping the "i buy stuff i dont need" syndrome. For every inatimate object you pick up, there is a story behind it. How it got there, who is responsible for making it, whose soul prints have helped put it together and what conditions were they living in. Then think of it crossing the sea a billion times over and the amount of fuel it took. Then where does the fuel come from.....finally, continue to pay for it and I bet you will think twice.
Whenever I pay or swipe a card for goods, I try to make sure it is at the highest level of awareness. If I think for one moment that someone had to be exposed to unbearable conditions to manufacture it, I wont buy it unless I need it. I will make sure that the number on my card does not go into a data base somewhere to add my name to a list of people condoning someone else's suffering. Just a suggestion that works for me. THanks for your input, ur funny.

SIMMY...lolol or is it "try to be more confused next time" Brazil, huh? :-( I wonder collectively how many people now worldwide they have put out of business. The mom and pop stores. In the infinite amount of info that is crammed in my brain, I'm surprised i didnt know they were that spread out. I then dont even want to know how many people they are enslaving to provide mass global consumption. I was creeped out by that company already...now it's giving me the shakes just thinking about the implications. uuugh
