Liberate Technology

I find myself with many more ideas than time to enact them. Here's a few if anyone likes projects!

1) Public Poetry Project:
Requires an amazing poster/website/local paper add. The idea is to get a big chunk of your community to write a response to a manifestation-oriented question: "what will happen when the truth drops?" or something along those lines. Whatever truth is, or whatever perspective or style participants want to go with is up to them. On your media (poster, handbill, whatever) indicate a good public meeting spot where you can get a PA and microphone, reserve a time with the proper authorities, and have everyone show up to read what they came up with. Possible outcomes: an agreed upon common vision which people can start taking steps towards, or a cleansing of fear and Armageddon tendencies, or even just simply enabling everyone to be heard and reflected upon.

2) A human Optimization Center:
Requires a (large) semi-derelict building and a vibrant community. The idea is to take a building that is too complex to accommodate any single business and use the space to fulfill the communities passions and skills. Autonomist, rather than anarchist. An absolutely central aspect of the building must be a spiritual center where college kids can get the basic questions posed to them, where people can go when they need to get their existentialism on. Also important and really easy to include: art gallery, performance space, library, community message board/manifestation board, and whatever other resources the community has at its disposal or would be willing to work towards acquiring.
Up here in BVT we've got a couple buildings that would be perfect. For the Armory I'm imagining a hot room for welding, glass blowing, kiln; a cold room for machine shop, clay studio, woodshop; A microbiotics workshop for bread, beer, kombucha, a living machine, etc.; a giant half-egg hoistable dome as a sound room for live performance within an art gallery/mini-stadium; power generation somewhere somehow (way too many options to list here); a greenhouse on the roof; the list goes on. These are all things that could be provided by the passion and resources of the community. BVT is a pretty kickass place.
Of course, funding to get rights over the building initially is the hardest trick. Once it gets going there's an attainable path to financial autonomy through ticket sales to killer shows, selling power back to the grid, selling clay goods (amphorae), bread/veggies/beer, etc. Basically whatever gets made there could be sold to people not involved in the project and bartered to those who are involved. If quantities of anything is made it could be distributed for sale.

3) Public Murals
Find some large ugly wall and pretty it up! Banksy style is always fun, although technical and tactical. But tons of murals get funded by grants, and grant-writing classes are easy to find. Public art is an amazing tool for consciousness raising, although it rarely gets used explicitly for that purpose. Check out Banksy, Beehive Collective, agitational propaganda, alexgrey.com, or go find some good graffiti.

4) Freak-swapping
Nothing makes the world a more loving place than having loving family and friends all over it. If you've got friends in one town and friends in another, have one town host the other and vice versa. There's a little of that going on between BVT and Austin TX, and between Austin and Portland OR. More is better. Caravans are awesome.

5) Buy a bus
Related to #4. Veggie oil fuel systems are pretty easy to rig up, and all these artists need to learn some technical skill at some point. Besides, your fuel comes from a dumpster, essentially, and ends up costing about $0.13 a gallon after all the filters are purchased. And it smells a lot better than diesel, coming out the other end.
A good used tour bus can be found for a grand or two. School buses can be found in hundred acre graveyards all around the country. Converting the interior tends to be more work than making the second fuel system.

6) Make a public Cymatics display
This is really fun to do and really crazy looking, and is a direct demonstration of how form, energy and motion are interrelated.
You need: an amplifier, an instrument, some fine grain material (iron filings, sand, table salt), and a method of projecting the image.

I hope you're having a great day! Normally I send friend requests, but for some reason on this site my Add as Friend link is not working. On my page there are blog posts that explain how to evolve consciousness and achieve new psychic states - such as overcoming all emotional pain forever - a psychic state called Immunity.

wow, man. i'm blown away. you've got prolific promulgation of pure possibility and transformation here, compadre. well conceived. bravo. kudos, and namaste. (p.s. i'm in a new band project that i should tell you about and some of us have already met for another. there's also a weekly jam we regularly attend. my suggestion is that you "get on in here" and vice versa and we put it all together into some vibrant up-swell of creative expression and access to divine intelligence.)
