      I am a member of The Aetherius Society from the time I agreed to be present at The Twelve Blessings, after which I put it all aside for a long time for the peace in my marriage.

    It eventually became restrictive for full membership requiring residence in the locality of one of the main centers with a lifelong commitment. This reduced many old members to the status as Friends of The A.S., and caused some friction for a time.  

    In retrospect,

    I served as MO in the British Army of occupation in the Canal Zone, Egypt, after being conscripted a few weeks after my marriage When the two years came to an end, it was increased for another six months at the outbreak of the Vietnam War. When my wife heard she flew over to a position in the staff of the military hospital at which I was stationed. We found a room with a friendly family in the residential part of Suez, and arranged for our off duty periods to coincide.
