Always More To See By Amber Dawn
We all understand that everyone has free will. I spent decades wondering and researching on how people could treat others like they do. Asking how could they?
Once I realized that I'm here to evolve my own soul, I stopped looking for ways of explaining behaviors of others. I hadn't found any reasoning that ever made any sense anyway. While I focused on the actions of others, I wasn't focused on me. I was distracted from going within myself.
It isn't my purpose to change other people. It is for me to look inside to see if there is anything about me that I can evolve. Those other people that I had always thought were so terrible, were actually helping me evolve!
Yes, that did take some time to wrap my brain around! I had to stop thinking I could judge them. I had to stop believing that if I could only understand them, it would matter. I don't need to understand or find meaning in their free will choices, I only need to understand my own. I can only make choices for myself.
I can only change myself. Only I can evolve my own soul. While I was so busy looking out at others, I didn't see the tough work I needed to do.
I needed to look at why I reacted to my experiences with every emotion except love. Why I couldn't realize my own self worth and know that I was worthy of loving myself. Why couldn't I understand that if I love myself, I would never require someone else to love me, so I could ‘feel loved’.
Omg! That was going to take so much effort. I would have to find courage to only focus on me! It was so simple to look at anyone else. It was easy to see what ‘I believed’, anyone else should have been doing or not doing. I found it easy and natural to only see the negative in an experience that caused me to suffer.
Now I can see how even the ‘horrible’ experiences benefited me in ways I had not imagined. I made a choice to look again, not with my emotions, but with an open mind.
One example: June, 2015, seconds before ‘he’ would finally kill me, law enforcement skidded to a stop, distracted him, then he went after them. That still wasn't enough to convince me to run. They took him away, I went back inside. The first thing I saw was the 6” knife that he had sitting next to him, waiting all day for his opportunity to stab me. I hadn't noticed it before. Outside he’d been using an iron crowbar.
I freaked when I saw the knife. That wasn't enough to make me run from my own home. I was close to retirement, the home was paid for. Why should I leave. I thought, I have to stay. After a 3-day psych hold, they were releasing him on his own responsibility. He had nowhere to go except my house.
THAT was ENOUGH! I ran! It took 7 days to drive only 1400 miles. I had to stop at every single rest stop to pass out for at least an hour.
I was in deep and dark fear and depression for 6 months. No one knew where I was. I was terrified. How could anyone want to hurt me, let alone kill me? And someone who had been in my life for so long?
After 6 months, I suddenly began writing poems. I'd never written anything before. I felt like I was being almost forced to post them on FB.
Omg! I'd never do that! The poems were affecting people. Helping them. They started looking for them. All those people were saying the most amazing things!
Those poems and the people were healing me! Since then, I've been on a speed course in this awakening process. My awakening had just begun the month before that experience.
Today, I'm grateful to that man who came so close to killing me, more than once. Without his help, forcing me to run into isolation, I wouldn't be at the stage I am today. Constantly searching to evolve my soul. Finding that I love myself just as much as I love all others. Always looking for more ways to advance, and a great deal more.
Once I disappeared, that man remained contained until his death 2/22/17. He wasn't able to be dangerous to anyone else. I could share many terrible experiences his actions caused, over a very long period. But with each one, I can also explain ways I benefited, is far beyond what I understood at those times. Instead, I'd like to say thank you to my father. While you lived as a human, you couldn't remember that you came to help me. Now, we both remember.
I am grateful and I love you for the role you filled. There's nothing to forgive. No other human has helped me so much. Kinda the reverse of what I ‘believed’ before. Now, I realize that I've never had a negative experience. I just ‘believed’ I had.
I hope this might help someone else see more than they first could. There is always more to see, if we’re willing to look.

As we each journey along our own unique pathways through life, there is an incredible power in taking time for self-reflection.

“We do not learn from experience, we learn from reflecting on experience.”
— John Dewey
Self-reflection is different than meditation, or even setting intentions.
Self-reflection is when you set aside some time to simply review where you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re headed.
It’s when you look honestly, and without judgment at your life to see where you’re on track and in alignment with your soul mission and purpose, and where you could use a little realignment or upgrade.
It's easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of life… The chaos of challenges, and even the comfort of routines that are less than what you really want to experience.
This is why its so powerful to take the time to pause, step back, zoom out and reflect about where you are, how you got here, and to look at the bigger picture of where you're headed…
Self-reflection is incredibly helpful in understanding who you really are, where you want to be, and where you're actually headed.
Self-reflection empowers you to learn from your mistakes, grow through challenges, and consciously progress on the path leading towards where you really want to be.
Self-reflection is simple.
Grab a journal, cozy up with a mug of tea, and start to look at who you are, what you've been doing, and where in your life you'd like to see some positive changes and upgrades.
Look at your life honestly… But its also important not to judge where you are or where you want to improve.
You may want to ask yourself some questions like these:
“Where am I on track in my life?
What am I doing now that's in alignment with my soul purpose?
What are my core intentions?
Where have I gotten off course this past year?
How can I more fully stand in my authentic truth and shine my light?
What really brings me joy?
How can I serve with joy and love in the highest interest of all?
The key here is to reflect without judgment…
As you practice self-reflection — presence, compassion, divine neutrality, and returning to love are key.
It's also a good time to clear your mind of preconceived notions and limiting beliefs and to tune into gratitude for the many blessings you do have…
When you do, the Universe can align you with so much more than you've ever imagined!
Reflection now paves the way for expansion to come!
Being honest and aware of where you are is the first step in growing, and dreaming up a more inspiring, fulfilling and brighter future…
Both individually and on a vast collective scale.
A part of this reflection process is recognizing all that you already have, honoring who you are in your full light, discovering new possibilities to step into, and also observing where your life needs a little updating and improving…
Here are some areas of life you might want to reflect upon:
