i think it is a Chinese lantern in my country we used to make them with tissue paper from different colors it can be any shape or size , in the bottom we attach a wire in a form of ring and that wire has attach some cotton like rope it is wet with oil and we go outside and 4 or 6 people hold it on the air and other person very carefully wil light up the oil with a match the globe will fill it self inside with hot air and we let it go on the air it will reach very high and it will around the city until the wind or the oil it is finished and the globe will fall of very far away ,but you can always see it , at night you will see the light but during the day you will not. well sorry buy this is what this ufo  looks to me,
