The Last Word on Utopia

Any ideal, even those with the best of intentions, can be dangerous and can be used to enslave when promising freedom. People need think critically for themselves rather than just accept an ideal or solution just because 1) it sounds good or reasonable, 2) is what they want to hear or 3) is popular. Those three aspects are in my opinion the worst factors to base our acceptance of an ideal or solution to a social problem (it's how con artists work and it distracts you from the slight of hand), yet it is the factors that most ideals use to sell to the masses.

 

When it all falls down nobody goes, "well lets really look at it and see exactly why it failed, maybe tweak it, remove the rot, come up with a more balanced and pragmatic approach before we totally ditch it. No they go for another extreme ideal or solution which sells on the exact same three factors.
