All of the normal people are moving backwards, while the hero is striving for his life's goals, hurdling over everyone else and getting back up when he falls. The giants watching over him are people who achieved their dreams, and in the end, he became one of them and inspired the little girl to move forward towards her own dreams, one step at a time.
