There are two natures in each person which are seemingly opposed to each other. The ego and the higher self which is love. The ego is the nature that is rooted in separation; it sees the world and other people as outside itself and therefore operates from a place of judgment, defense, offense, competition, and comparison; a Me v. Them mentality.

The higher self is centered in Oneness, it sees all as itself and one with itself. Regardless of what happens in the world, your higher self which is love sees all things and people as expressions of God even when a veil of darkness presently obscures love from being manifest. The higher self loves, blesses, has compassion, heals, and forgives.
