The Thought Police are on the march. Free speech can be tasered on sight. Any excuse will do. All over the world, governments are censoring the internet to conceal their own lies and corruption. Any greasy pretext will serve. Freedom of expression is being curtailed to protect the governing classes from the consequences of freedom of expression. The mainstream media have already been bought and paid for. Now the internet must be neutered. In internet history, 1994-2004 was the era of the pioneers. 2004-2007 was the era of the merchants. Now we’re entering the era of the bullies. All over the planet, sites are going dark, arrests are increasing, more people are going to prison. The Web just celebrated its 20th birthday. Nobody used to take it seriously. They do now.
