Druids when the world was young, believed in tree spirits, And of a God that came from a tree. Hu-Esus was his name.
The All-Heal or Mistletoe was revered by the Druids, collected, then cut with dedicated ritual.
The Druidic alphabet consisted of trees, we have Beith the birch, Luis the Rowan, this was used for staffs and wands. There is Nuinn the Ash, Fearn the Alder, Saille the Willow. Some others being Huath the Hawthorn, Duir the Oak.
The magnificent and mighty Oak was King of all Trees. Then we have Teinn the Holly, Coll the Hazel, Muinn the Vine, Gort the Ivy. The remainder being Ngetal The Reed, Ruis the Elder tree, Ailm the Silver Fir, Ohn the Furze, Ur the Heather, Eadha the White Poplar, Iodha (Iar)the Yew.
The most revered of these by far, was the Mistletoe or All-Heal, which was reputed to cure all ailments.
If we could divine the knowledge of the King of Trees, Duir the mighty Oak, and the grandeur of it’s lifespan from acorn to fully grown tree, [Man’s lifetime is but a moment in comparison], just think of all they could enlighten us with.
