Yes, Nonya, sad it is. Im connected to the gulf. I went to the gulf coast every summer when I was a kid growing up, been there off and on there after. I remember visiting friends of my parents and grand parents, I made friends too. I have lost touch with them over the years.

!0 years ago I was sitting on the beach at Ship Island sucking down bud lights and now is a waste land.  The ride out there is about 10 miles and bottle nose dolphins would escourt the farrie to the island. I had a blast every time.

I think the gulf will recover one day, but it will take time. Mother heals her wombs slowly some times, but as long as the vermin remain there in the gulf, poisioning the water and air and bleeding her oil like they own this, then recovery is put on hold. It must stop, but it wont, because the leaders of this country dont have the guts to stand up for the people who put them there.

Thanks for the link, that will be very helpful

Uuugh, this is so sad for so many reasons. Thanks SIMPLEMAN for keeping this in the headlines.

Throughout my life I have been in love with the Gulf and Carribean waters.  The blues of its waters and the sunrises with dolphins springing out of the waves is something of a fairy tale when you experience it. The death of the gulf and its magnificent creatures feels like I have lost a part of myself that will never come back in my lifetime. I hope to be wrong about the duration of its death, but for now, reality dictates to me that its dead and with it, went part of my heart.
