Italian Scientist Predicted Earthquake and Was Ignored
Gioacchino Giuliani predicted the earthquake that killed dozens on Monday in central Italy. Vans went around the area last month with loudspeakers, broadcasting his warning, but he was reported to the police for spreading false alarms and being a scaremonger.
Giuliani is an employee at a physics institute near the city of L’Aquila, which was badly hit by the quake. He has devised a method that he claims can predict seismic events via radon gas emissions and that it had foretold that an earthquake was coming – but when he tried to warn people, he was “called an imbecile” by the police. He was made to take his warnings down from the Internet, as well.
He’d stated in an interview on March 24th that he believed a quake was coming, and he had been monitoring the radon emissions before Monday’s quake, but was aware that if he tried to repeat his warnings, he would have charges pressed against him.
Giuliani is now demanding an official apology from authorities for failing to act on his warnings.
