I am sorry to see on Tiggy Winkles website that the tiny deer did not make it through. However, his Spirit lives on, and is a reminder to us to look after our animal life and not just care about humans. I could not edit my comment below, sorry. Lest we forget, let us remember this beautiful, sweet baby deer, and do what we can to prevent things like this from happening. Rest In Peace, Rupert and your Mother.
Thanks Krystal. This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section at a wildlife hospital after his mother was killed by a car. Little Rupert, who is so small he can fit in an adult's hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother. He was born three weeks before he was due. The little orphan was just six inches tall and, at 500 grams, weighed little more than a bag of sugar. He is a Muntjac deer. Muntjac are the oldest known deer, appearing 15-35 million years ago, with remains found in Miocene deposits in France and Germany. Below is the link to the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital where Rupert was cared for. Enjoy.
