Whales: Splendidly Beautiful, Amazingly Wonderous...Did you know?

This is by far one of the most heart-breaking tragedies I've known. Whale hunting and killing is a senseless act of inhumanity, and it should be stopped. Did you know that whales are as old if not older than dinosaurs? They are in fact larger as well..Here's a fact based comparison for a good visual:
Humans stand about 5-6' tall, right? Giraffes are between 15 and 17'. T-Rex was believed to stand about 20' tall, and even Brachiosaurus (long neck plant eater, and believed to be the biggest dinaosaur to have ever lived) only stood to be 50' tall. Well, folks, the Blue Whale comes in with a hefty 80-100 feet in length, and weighs in at a whopping 174 tons or more! That's pretty remarkable, if you ask me.
Let's not negate the fact that whales are the loudest mammals on our planet. If I may, allow me to share with you that music is a passion, a feeling, an emotion most oftenly expressed by singing. As a singer and a lover of music myself, I find it magical that whales are also the loudest marine singers, if you will, on Earth. Did you know that they can carry a tune up to 140 decibals? Wow, right? Humans can only shout up to 70! And, did you know that whales have an incredible gift of healing? It's true...just close your eyes, and envision yourself on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Now, feel yourself being lifted slightly, and then slowly let down..the boat lifting and slowly bringing your body down...up, down...up, down...again and again. Now, take in a breath of fresh air, exhale your fears, anxieties, and worries...even your pain...imagine the smell of salt water and a very light clean refreshing air entering your nostrils with every breath. Suddenly, the sounds of seagulls are soaring above ...their call starts to decrescendo into a faint whisper almost as if to be hundreds of miles away ..each "ka-kah" more quiet than the last...you hear a trickle of water splashing ....now hear the whales start to hum an angelic tune of happiness...light...of peace... listen closely as you feel all negativity start to disipate with each note...an acapella of divine notes carried out by the ocean's most grand angels.... no more worries, no more anxiety, no more fears, no more pain....you are one with the whales...the sea's most beautiful singers.. now, open your eyes...I'll bet you feel better.. that is indeed the healing power of the whale. :)
Whales are also very fast swimmers! :) They can swim 3-30 mph! That's pretty amazing, considering their size,and taking into fact the resistence of water all the while. Impressive!
And, to think, such a splendidly beautiful and wonderous creature, a singer and swimmer of such stature as old as time could be quickly taken away. I ask you this: Where is the wonderous light in that? Is it really that important that we use the lipsticks that are made of whale blubber? Is it that important that we wear pleather, made of whale skin? Is there any crucial rhyme or reason for ridding such a beautiful and magical sea mammal such as the Whale?

I agree with PA here. back then, I understood, whales were used for many essential things before the industrial revolution. but now, I just can't see a single valid reason to do this and to do this the way they are doing it. it's pretty pathetic in my opinion.
