Honey - The Perfect Antibiotic Capable of Solving The Problem of Antibiotic Resistance
Honey, one of the most incredible non-perishable foods that can kill almost every type of bacteria. It could also be one sweet solution to the serious, ever-growing problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, researchers said.
Medical professionals sometimes use honey successfully as a topical dressing, but it could play a larger role in fighting infections, the researchers predicted. Their study was part of the 247th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the world’s largest scientific society.
“The unique property of honey lies in its ability to fight infection on multiple levels, making it more difficult for bacteria to develop resistance,” said study leader Susan M. Meschwitz, Ph.D. That is, it uses a combination of weapons, including hydrogen peroxide, acidity, osmotic effect, high sugar concentration and polyphenols -- all of which actively kill bacterial cells, she explained. The osmotic effect, which is the result of the high sugar concentration in honey, draws water from the bacterial cells, dehydrating and killing them.
Professor Rose Cooper from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff has looked at how honey interacts with three types of bacteria that commonly infest wounds: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Group A Streptococci and Meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Her group has found that honey can interfere with the growth of these bacteria in a variety of ways and suggests that honey is an attractive option for the treatment of drug-resistant wound infections.
Some bacteria have become resistant to every commonly prescribed antibacterial drug. But scientists found that raw Manuka honey, as it is known in New Zealand, or jelly bush honey, as it is known in Australia, killed every bacteria or pathogen it was tested on. Current findings on Manuka Honey are likely to have a major impact on modern medicine and could lead to a range of honey-based products to replace antibiotic and antiseptic creams.
"Most bacteria that cause infections in hospitals are resistant to at least one antibiotic, and there is an urgent need for new ways to treat and control surface infections," Professor Dee Carter, from the University of Sydney's School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences.
In addition, several studies have shown that honey inhibits the formation of biofilms, or communities of slimy disease-causing bacteria, said Dr. Meschwitz. “Honey may also disrupt quorum sensing, which weakens bacterial virulence, rendering the bacteria more susceptible to conventional antibiotics,” Meschwitz said. Quorum sensing is the way bacteria communicate with one another, and may be involved in the formation of biofilms. In certain bacteria, this communication system also controls the release of toxins, which affects the bacteria’s pathogenicity, or their ability to cause disease.
Meschwitz, who is with Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., said another advantage of honey is that unlike conventional antibiotics, it doesn’t target the essential growth processes of bacteria. The problem with this type of targeting, which is the basis of conventional antibiotics, is that it results in the bacteria building up resistance to the drugs.
Honey is effective because it is filled with healthful polyphenols, or antioxidants, she said. These include the phenolic acids, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid and ellagic acid, as well as many flavonoids. “Several studies have demonstrated a correlation between the non-peroxide antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of honey and the presence of honey phenolics,” she added. A large number of laboratory and limited clinical studies have confirmed the broad-spectrum antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties of honey, according to Meschwitz.
She said that her team also is finding that honey has antioxidant properties and is an effective antibacterial. “We have run standard antioxidant tests on honey to measure the level of antioxidant activity,” she explained. “We have separated and identified the various antioxidant polyphenol compounds. In our antibacterial studies, we have been testing honey’s activity against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, among others.”
This research may increase the clinical use of honey as doctors are faced with the threat of diminishingly effective antimicrobial options. "We need innovative and effective ways of controlling wound infections that are unlikely to contribute to increased antimicrobial resistance. We have already demonstrated that manuka honey is not likely to select for honey-resistant bacteria," said Professor Cooper. At present, most antimicrobial interventions for patients are with systemic antibiotics. "The use of a topical agent to eradicate bacteria from wounds is potentially cheaper and may well improve antibiotic therapy in the future. This will help reduce the transmission of antibiotic-resistant bacteria from colonised wounds to susceptible patients."
Keep in mind that there are well over 30 commercial producers of honey that have no traces of pollen and lack beneficial vitamins and enzymes among a host of other natural constituents which are removed due to pasteurization and processing. Most golden honey you see at your local grocery is dead and far from the health promoting powerhouse of its raw unpasteurized counterpart. Processed honey is not honey at all and if you desire any kind of health benefits, you must stick to the real stuff.

“The Cave You Fear to Enter Holds the Treasure You Seek.”
The title of this message is a quote by Joseph Campbell, and this is Judith. The celestial team and I haven’t posted an entry for quite awhile, I know…or do I?
Maybe we posted one in the time/space that seems like “recently” to you, while to me it seems like a “long time ago.” All I do know is that I’ve been so completely engaged in some very sharp and sudden twists and hairpin turns in what I thought was my “reality” that I haven’t been able to even conceptualize it, let alone write about. it.
And I still can’t (ha!), but I suddenly felt compelled to write about that…even though I don’t know what “that” is… although I do know it has something to do with caves and treasures, because I was also compelled to begin this post with Joseph Campbell’s quote…
Now there’s an insight into whatever the “that” is that I’m writing about-I used to choose quotes, and now quotes are choosing me! And I got it.
What I’m writing about is how, over the past few weeks, “reality” does not conform to my expectations at all. Nor do I. Instead, “reality” has taken the lead, entirely, and I’m just following along as best I can.
Much of the time, the “reality” I create is not the one I intended to. Neither do I behave in alignment with my intentions. Meaning, I’ll upset my own applecart, break my own heart, walk into a castle and turn it into a cave.
This is not only messy, heartbreaking, and disorienting, but it feels so crazy that I question my own motives...and if I can’t trust myself, who can I trust?
And thank heavens, here’s the celestial team to take the reigns of this runaway post before it goes over the edge completely-
Ah, Beloved! We wanted our Judith to share her “felt experience” as an earthly human before we shared our perspective for two reasons. Firstly, if her experience resonates with your own in even the slightest way, then You will receive our transmission in a more personal, experiential way.
Secondly, because what her experience illustrates is how illusionary your “perceived reality” is, and how “crazy” the process of expanding beyond it often seems.
When one moves “out of time” for example, there is no linear ordering of experience. One can, indeed, enter a castle that becomes a cave.
That is because it is not the form of the castle that You seek, but the frequencies You associate with that form. And sometimes, those frequencies can only be found in a cave.
Sometimes, the very treasure You seek is one that You must go through your inner cave to find. Sometimes, in order to BE LOVE, one must find the buried aspects of Self that are NOT loved and so manifest as “unloving.”
Sometimes, the only way to find them is to excavate them through the explosives You call “drama.” And although we do not condone “drama” as a way of being, such explosions often accompany the chaos that is the very process of transformation, itself.
Therefore, Beloved, we ask You to be very gentle with yourSelf as you approach your equinox. Suspend all judgments. The jury is not only out… it is GONE.
Recognize yourSelf as a human being who is stepping into LOVE, and so creating any event necessary that will uncover every hidden aspect of yourSelf that needs to be Loved.
We have heard your term for such aspects as they surface. You say, “He, or she, has ‘demons.’ ”
Please do not use that term any longer. Such aspects are only demonstrating their terror at being cast out as “unlovable.”
So LOVE your “demons.” It is only through doing so that they will become your greatest allies in not only finding, but BECOMING, the very treasure that You seek.
You are in a process of metamorphosis, from believing yourSelf to be a “merely human being” into reclaiming yourSelf as a Divinely Human Being.
It may help You to remember this by keeping the metaphor of a caterpillar in mind.
Just imagine how appalled it would be at finding the embodiment it called “self” turn to churning liiquid, if it judged that process! Just imagine how traumatic such a metamorphosis would be if entered with the energy of fear!
Trust the chaos, Beloved. It is not simply a butterfy that You are transforming into.
You are becoming a Monarch.

Is Cannabis Juice an Effective Alternative Treatment For Cancer?
There is a great deal of controversy surrounding the use of medical marijuana in the U.S. While used medicinally in Asia, Africa, India, and parts of Europe, hemp and cannabis oil were used medicinally in the U.S until the 1950s, at which point they were made illegal. While medicinal use of marijuana has experienced a resurgence over the past few decades, its health applications are largely restricted to pain management and symptom control. Some experts in the alternative health community are now turning to the juice from raw cannabis as a preventative and curative measure against certain illnesses, including cancer.
How Does Cannabis Treat Cancer?
The science regarding exactly how cannabis may be effective in treating cancer is still being uncovered. What researchers have discovered is the relationship between a certain compound present in cannabis called cannabidiol (CBD), and the endocannabinoid system, which regulates functions of the peripheral nervous system, as well as various physiological processes, including appetite control, mood, memory, pain sensation, and metabolism. According to Dr. William Courtney, an advocate for medical marijuana, and the founder of Cannabis International, the body is actually hardwired to respond to the CBD present in cannabis. He believes that cannabis juice, in particular, is the most effective way of delivering CBD into the body, versus smoking the plant, or ingesting it once it has been cooked.
How Exactly Does the CBD In Cannabis Reduce Cancer Cells?
According to Dr. Courtney, under normal conditions, neurotransmitters communicate in a one-way transmission in the brain, sending signals to initiate various functions in the body, including inflammation. The nervous system does not, however, have a mechanism in place to receive signals from the body to let the brain know how it's responding. It is believed that CBD bridges the gap within the neurotransmitter connection, creating a two-way line of communication, or a feedback loop, helping the body to be more effective in regulating itself. This is the process which is believed to reduce pain and inflammation, as well as potentially inhibit the reproduction of cancer cells.
Won't Drinking Cannabis Juice Cause Psychoactive Effects?
The CBD in cannabis works synergistically with tetrahydrocannabinol (TCH), the compound in cannabis responsible for causing the psychoactive effects. When CBD and THC are taken together, the medicinal effects of the CBD increase, while the psychoactive effects of the THC are suppressed. According to Dr. Courtney, it is through heating the marijuana plant that disrupts this natural balance between CBD and THC, creating psychoactive symptoms. Juicing cannabis avoids any heat application to the plant, keeping this delicate relationship between CBD and THC in balance.
Are There Other Benefits Of CBD?
Studies have shown that CBD is effective in reducing convulsions, and works as an anti-spasmodic agent. It also appears effective in reducing inflammation, relieving pain, reducing anxiety, reducing nausea, increasing immune system functioning, and as a potential anti-psychotic agent. CBD has shown effective in treating the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, epilepsy, antibiotic-resistant infections, certain neurological disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder.
How Can I Access Cannabis Juice?
Currently Cannabis is illegal in most states unless used medicinally. In order to qualify for medicinal use of cannabis, it is necessary to get a prescription from your doctor to treat a legitimate health condition. However, even with a medical marijuana prescription, finding cannabis juice can be difficult. Check with local dispensaries to find potential providers of the raw form of cannabis juice. In the states with more relaxed marijuana legislation, it may be possible to grow your own plants for medicinal purposes, and to juice your own plants. Dr. Courtney suggests juicing the leaves, stems, and buds of the plant, avoiding thicker stems which are usually too fibrous to provide very much juice. Begin by drinking a small glass a day, mixed with water or other vegetable juices in order to make the taste more palatable.
While the research on cannabis juice is still emerging, and is far from conclusive, the results appear to support the efficacy of cannabis juice for the treatment of numerous health conditions, including cancer. Take the time to educate yourself regarding the facts and myths regarding cannabis juice, and talk to your doctor about alternative treatments for your medical conditions. Do not discontinue any medication for cancer in lieu of any alternative treatment, and speak with your doctor before ingesting cannabis juice or other products that may contain cannabis.
