Comet Lulin

I know it's not about the moon but it's quite interesting.

DISCONNECTED TAIL: On Feb. 4th, a team of Italian astronomers witnessed "an intriguing phenomenon in Comet Lulin's tail." Team leader Ernesto Guido explains: "We photographed the comet using a remotely-controlled telescope in New Mexico, and our images clearly showed a disconnection event. While we were looking, part of the comet's plasma tail was torn away."

Guido and colleagues believe the event was caused by a magnetic disturbance in the solar wind hitting the comet. It's a plausible hypothesis. Magnetic mini-storms in comet tails have been observed before--most famously in 2007 when NASA's STEREO spacecraft watched a CME crash into Comet Encke. Encke lost its tail in dramatic fashion, much as Comet Lulin did yesterday.

We're not giving conclusions, just theories. We'll post more as we think and recieve it.

Honestly, I'm totally lost as to what you guys are going on about...Or how you can possibly get the knowledge/facts/evidence about this.
Wouldn't it be fair to say that whole increasing in density could be happening every time the moon isn't visible...
Honestly I can't just believe this as much as I'd like to...since it seems fascinating and all...but there is just far too little information about it at the moment to jump to any conclusions / take sides about the moon...

you just proved that people here are not sheeple. You did not just taking what was said . Our opinions are useless if you don't already have your own. But i kinda belive what he says, not everything though.

We'll know tomorrow. You should be able to see the outline tomorrow according to most moon phase tool. I realised that this group is basically off of claims. People claimed before the New Moon started that they weren't able to see it and that's what i find weird, not the flood of others trying to confirm the claim during the new moon.

Has anybody even seen the outline of the moon. I know i was able to see a faint outline of the moon even though it wasn't shining this summer?

I know what you mean by influence. Mariell ever notice how people get a little crazier during the full moon? It affects our mood mostly aswell as the tides and stuff.

Hey guys and girls,

There's been a couple of threads open about the moon so i figured i'd make a temporary but possibly permanent group about it. Feel free to discuss anything about it or any theories you have.
